Can a holistic rehabilitation programme really improve bone health?

Yes, the evidence is clear. Built From the Highest Level of Expertise

Most people who arrive here, have already invested time looking. They have read the guidance, searched the internet, listened to podcasts, spoken to their doctor, perhaps tried a suggested group class, an online programme, had sessions with a personal trainer. And they have reached the same quiet conclusion — that what is generally available does not go far enough, is not specific enough, it’s missing parts and does not take into account their real life, the complexity of their situation, their priorities, preference for one to one support and confidentiality.

Better Bones for Life™ was created to answer that gap — and the foundation it is built on is unlike anything else available in the UK.

1. OsteoProSisters: Better Bones for Life ™

At the heart of Better Bones for Life™ sits a lifetime of serious confidential clinical work. Not wellness practice. Not personal trainer studio teaching. Real confidential clinical work — with fractures, non-union, complex bone pathology, osteoarthritis, and chronic pain. The kind of complex health challenges that insurers and legal teams bring to Jill when outcomes truly matter. This is bone health expertise forged in the most demanding clinical environments, across more than four decades of advanced practice.

Better Bones for Life™ is an evidence informed programme. It’s more prevention and early stage support than an intervention for people with limited mobility history of falls and fragility fractures. It’s designed for women who want to understand their bone health — and take genuinely informed steps to support it.

History

In 2001 Jill completed training and was certified as a Teacher of Bones for Life® — a pioneering somatic movement method developed by Ruthy Alon directly from her own Feldenkrais practice.

In 2005, Ruthy Alon certified Jill personally as a Trainer in addition to being a Teacher. Elevating her position, and authorizing her to create and teach her own Bones For Life ® Training Programme. This is the highest level of certification within the Bones for Life® framework, carrying the authority to not only run BFL programmes, but to also train and supervise others as teachers.

That certification, from the creator herself, to a Physiotherapist, someone already deeply rooted in movement milestones, and the Feldenkrais foundations the bones for life method grew from, carries a particular significance.

For several years Jill trained the material within the Bones for Life® framework, but over time as her knowledge and qualifications grew, she expanded and changed the work. Integrating an evidence based approach, a science framework, expanding key focus areas, and integrating elements outside the core BFL programme.

Better Bones for Life™ is a programme that brings all of this together — the advanced clinical practice, the forensic bone health expertise, the movement and Feldenkrais mastery, the Bones for Life® training authority — and extends it further with a comprehensive, evidence-informed framework covering bone loading, progressive resistance exercise, nutrition for bone mineralisation, balance, posture, sleep, stress and mindset.

Better Bones for Life ™ : The result is a modern programme that does not exist anywhere else anywhere else in the world. Because the person who created it does not exist anywhere else.

Who is Better Bones for Life for?: The Better Bones for Life™  programme offers a grounded, holistic education covering movement, nutrition, sleep, hormones, lifestyle and more. Program participants are generally active, but aware they are less active than 10 years ago, between age 35 and 65, not yet had a serious fall or fragility fractures, can walk at least distances 800 metres( half a mile), perhaps not as agile as they were, can climb stairs maybe use a handrail at times, and can get up from the floor.

How do I sign up ? First we need to have a conversation, which is a free no obligation 20 minute call via webcam. You can book a free conversation time in my diary through the links on this page. During the call we discuss your needs and options and I’ll provide a recommendation on whether the group work would be a fit for you or whether one to one would be best.

Group work runs online, usually as either a bootcamp whole day in person or via webcam.

2. One to One Medically Supervised Exercise for Osteoporosis and Fragility Fractures Programme

If you live in London or Reading and have received a diagnosis of osteopenia, osteoporosis, falls, fragility fractures or a progressively worsening kyphosis with height loss, it’s almost certain you’ll be needing a medically supervised program.

Alongside your osteoporosis or fractures diagnosis you may have a complex combination of other health problems, neurological, osteoarthritis, sarcopenia, low mood and sleep problems. A lifestyle program can be a very effective form of osteoporosis or osteopenia management.

However when you have osteoporosis, fragility fractures and increasing kyphosis you need support from someone who truly specialises in these health problems, someone who has worked with many clients with the similar limitations.

If that speaks to you, then either book yourself in for a free conversation, make a call, send a text or a message.

No overwhelm. No pressure. Just a gentle next step.

Your holistic, medically supervised osteoporosis programme personalised to your exact health state starts with us having a conversation about options and if you want to proceed, a one to one in the room assessment.

My approach is calm, kind and unhurried — and it addresses you as a whole person, never as your diagnosis.

Together we decide where to begin. We will start with your health challenge, falls, a fracture, severe pain, loss of independence.

Every plan is personalised — to you, your body, your history and your goals, and starts with a thorough one to one consultation. Most plans include several of these: balance and coordination trainin, bone stacking, bone loading, progressive resistance exercise, functional strength, posture, nutrition, sleep, mindset and sustainable lifestyle change.

Can a holistic rehabilitation programme really improve bone health and mobility?

Yes — the evidence is clear. An integrated bone health programme can measurably improve bone density, and accelerate recovery.

What does a personalised bone health programme include?

Every programme is different because every person is different and what you want to get from a program is specific to you and your lifestyle.

How to contact me for more information.

I offer a free twenty minute pre-booked conversation, a straightforward, unhurried conversation about where you are, what you have already tried, and what a personalised programme could realistically offer you. You will leave knowing the option I recommend, what is possible, costs and a clear sense of whether this feels like the right fit.

Complex, longstanding and second opinion cases are always particularly welcome. Over four decades of clinical practice, some of the most significant recoveries have come from people who were not sure a meaningful path forward existed — including cases where the complexity was such that limb loss had been a genuine consideration. Many healed fully. The clinical experience to hold that level of complexity, and to find a way through it, is very much part of what is available here.

If you are ready — or simply want to understand what might be possible for you — please do get in touch.
